How Skillry uses cookies and similar technologies
2026/09/30
Introduction
This Cookie Policy explains how Skillry uses cookies and similar browser storage technologies on skillry.fun. It complements our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle personal information more broadly.
What are cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. We also use browser local storage for some preferences; it works similarly but is never sent to our servers.
Cookies we actually use
We keep our cookie footprint small. Skillry uses four kinds of cookies and browser storage:
- Essential cookies — authentication and session cookies that keep you signed in and protect your account. The site cannot function without them.
- Analytics cookies — Google Analytics cookies that help us understand aggregate usage of the site, such as which pages are visited.
- Affiliate referral cookies — PromoteKit remembers which partner referred you so we can attribute purchases and calculate partner commissions. The referral identifier is sent to Stripe with checkout metadata.
- Preference storage — your theme (light/dark) and language choices, so the site remembers how you like to browse.
We do not use advertising, targeting, or social media cookies, and we do not build interest profiles of visitors.
Cookie table
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
better-auth.session_token (and related auth cookies) | Keeps you signed in to your Skillry account and protects sessions | Up to 7 days |
PARAGLIDE_LOCALE | Remembers your language choice (English / 中文) | About 1 year |
theme (local storage) | Remembers your light/dark theme preference | Until cleared |
promotekit_referral | Attributes purchases to a referring partner through PromoteKit | 60 days by default, subject to campaign settings |
_ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics — anonymous, aggregate usage statistics | Up to 2 years |
Managing cookies
Most browsers let you view, delete, and block cookies in their settings. You can also clear local storage from your browser's site data controls. Blocking essential cookies will prevent sign-in and other core features from working; blocking analytics or affiliate referral cookies does not prevent purchases, but blocking referral tracking can prevent a partner from receiving credit.
Changes to this Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as the product changes. We will update the date above and post the new version on this page.
